The Nintendo E Reader was an accessory released for the Gameboy Advance that allowed you to swipe special cards that had a barcode on them, unlocking games, levels, or in game bonuses. It is to this day one of the strangest things Nintendo has ever brought to market - which doesn't mean it's not strangely ingenuous.
