Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, we have some tragic news to share. Two-year-old Isabella Rose Wheildon was found dead in her pushchair at a temporary housing unit in Ipswich. Her mother, Chelsea Gleason-Mitchell, and her mother's boyfriend, Scott Jeff, both 22 years old, have been charged with her murder.

The inquest at Suffolk Coroner's Court revealed that Isabella passed away sometime between 26th and 30th June 2023. Suffolk Police received a concerning call about the child's welfare, prompting them to visit the temporary residence. Upon arrival, they found little Isabella lifeless in her pushchair inside a locked bathroom. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she could not be revived.

Ms. Gleason-Mitchell and Mr. Jeff have been remanded in custody after appearing at Ipswich Crown Court on murder charges. The investigation is ongoing, and there is a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding previous contact Norfolk Police had with the child.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Isabella's family during this difficult time. May she rest in peace. Thank you for your attention.
