I.V. (RB DLC Port) - X Japan Guitar FC (GHWT:DE) HD Gameplay (PC)
My Thoughts On The Song/Chart: Custom port with custom lipsync and animations credit goes to @diogiorno596 who i applaud for their work on this! They even gave it crowd vocals!
I.V. was known as the main theme for Saw IV and was released as Free DLC as part of the RB2 20 Free DLC pack. This was the first song from a Japanese Band to be released for a rhythm game that was created in the Western World, which knowing what i know now about Japan's strict copyright, is quite incredible. Very few other Japanese acts officially came to RB or any other non japanese rhythm games for that matter, aside from the few Babymetal tracks we got IIRC.
"Rock Band Japan" was a project that was supposed to be created by Harmonix and would have been the first (and quite possibly only) Western Rhythm game primarily focused on Japanese Bands and Artists, a game that would have been a landmark in the genre IMO and could have been huge for a lot of these bands overseas exposure but sadly it never came to be.
Seeing somebody put in the work to make this a standout custom was pretty commendable, i hope eventually we will see more great customs like this, and it gives me hope for the community as a whole.
Song Facts:
"I.V." is a song by Japanese rock band X Japan, released on January 23, 2008, as a digital download. It was the group's first new material since "The Last Song," released almost a decade earlier in 1998. "I.V." is the main theme for the American film Saw IV, which was released on October 26, 2007.
An X Japan reunion was announced in mid-2007, with Yoshiki, Toshi, Heath and Pata all participating. In July, Yoshiki was approached about composing the main theme for Lionsgate's Saw IV (he also composed Lionsgate's Catacombs main theme), Yoshiki chose to perform the song with X Japan.
"I.V." (written by Yoshiki) would feature Toshi, Heath, Pata and Yoshiki, along with unreleased guitar tracks by former guitarist hide, who died in 1998. According to Yoshiki, the version released is a shortened version of his original work, which was too long to fit the movie.
The song was featured as one of 20 free downloadable songs released for owners of Rock Band 2; notably, it was the first song from a Japanese band to make an appearance in a music video game made in and for the Western market.
"I.V." has been reported to be included on X Japan's unreleased album.
X Japan has released five studio albums, six live albums, and 21 singles. In 2003, HMV Japan ranked the band at number 40 on their list of the 100 most important Japanese pop acts. In 2007, Rolling Stone Japan ranked Blue Blood number 15 on its list of the 100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time. In 2017, Loudwire named X Japan the Best Metal Band from Japan. It has been reported that X Japan has sold over 30 million records.
