This Freewing J-10A 90mm EDF in 8S configuration is an absolute beast, it performs extraordinary and is lots of fun to fly, what an absolutely fantastic RC Jet!!!
Freewing nailed this release, providing us with an absolute banger of a model aircraft, this jet just flies phenomenal!! I just maidened my FMS Rafale not long ago, and this one stands out in stark contrast, having a lot more power to throw it around. The jet's preparation took only one day, whereas the Rafale had to spend several days on the workbench until it was ready and had several servos fry. This J-10 isn't without its own set of flaws, the servos are kinda meh, the canard ones in particular have poor resolution and I had to change them, the wires are a tad too short so it's hard to reposition the control box... but just being able to replace a servo by unscrewing it and screwing back a new one is just perfect, and the mechanism for the canards actuation is solid and allows hge ranges. Also, achieving a good CG is rather easy. So you can see why I find praise for this model even before take-off...

Here are a few points that make the Freewing J-10 a unique EDF jet: it features full span split elevons, giving it more authority for extreme post-stall maneuvers and does better knife edge than most jets of this type. It does really shine in high alpha stability and performs really decent flat spins even without a thrust vectoring nozzle. It takes-off and lands very easy but it's easy to capsize on the ground though if you are not careful because of the narrow wheel base. I already liked the plain grey military version but this August 1st aerobatic demo team scheme is a thing of beauty!
This jet had been in my crosshairs for a while now, but the pricetag hold me from pulling the trigger for a while. But I just recently got a really good deal for it on AliExpress and had to immediately pull the trigger.
Flight features aside, this jet is truly outstanding as a scale model, with a plethora of scale details and with the possibility of installing a lot of ordnance, including 2 external fuel tanks and 4 missiles! That's also one of the reasons I wanted to get the jet... it looks gorgeous in the air showing off with all the underslung ordnance installed!
These were flights 1st to 5th on 'Fei', as I ended up naming her. ;)

SETUP:
Elevons worked together in pitch, but only the outer part does roll. Canards work only in pitch, Rudder does rudder. Full throws everywhere, huge expo (around 70-85%). Canard is mostly driven by the PG-03 gyro at full gain unless I make harsh inputs. I left the mixing board in this time in order to be able to apply the gyro corrections to all the elevon servos (A3Mini has limited output options). Pilot figure removed. Wires tidied up and one 4S battery slammed all the way back in the foam cavity aft of the battery compartment. I power the electronics from a separate 2S Li-Po through a TGY 8A UBEC. The HobbyEagle gyro has more moderate gains on all control surfaces in rate mode. CG is currently roughly about 20-30mm behind the wing molded CG marks... and that's about it! More info soon...
