Jak II: Playthrough Part 5: A Sewer Disaster for a Blaster
It can be quite a bit of a slog to travel through the city just to pick up your next mission. Maybe find some sub-missions to pass the time, or even cause some mayhem.
I ended up horseplaying at the wrong time, so I skipped going through the first Search Challenge of Torn's side-missions.
These challenges have you find a Gold Precursor Orb somewhere in the city before time runs out. If you can't find it, you can try again, but the mission is instantly completed once you do. Once again, these golden orbs are worth 3 regular ones.
----------
Moving on to the next main mission, Krew now wants the Dark Eco Duo to travel through Haven City's Sewers to take down some Sentry Guns.
Jak is getting irritated that someone else just using him to run errands. Per Torn's words, he really wanted Krew to tell him why Baron Praxis' Krimzon Guards were giving Eco to Metal Heads before taking on this mission.
Krew eventually caved in and told him. The Baron made a deal with the Metal Heads to feed them Eco. In exchange, the Metal Heads would attack Haven City just enough for the Baron to be able protect it from them, and justify maintaining his corrupt authority and power over the entire. What a bastard!
Last but not least, apparently the kid that was with Kor may be the TRUE ruler of the city; the lost heir, as Kor has stated.
So with that, Jak & Daxter head to the Sewers, all on the promise that Krew would give them the gun upgrade he brought up.
----------
The Sewers will be marked on the map as a green beacon or reticle. You will follow a slope downwards to its door, and then take an elevator further down to finally reach it.
Naturally, the place is infested with Metal Heads, but the mission is to destroy the 4 Sentry guns. Their aim follows you as you move around, but their rate of fire is consist.
I get a bit too confident and bite the dust once, but this isn't really a hard mission to do.
----------
After another moment of showing how gross and filthy he is, as promised, he shows the duo where to get their gun upgrade. At the Port.
Like how the Scatter Gun uses Red Eco, the Blaster allows the Morph Gun to use Yellow Eco for a more long-ranged experience. It even has laser sighting to aim at targets better.
This is pretty much like how Jak could shoot Yellow Eco from his hands in the first game, but turning it into an all-access gun! Consider the Blaster to be your default weapon for this game, though there are still two other mods to get.
The rest of this video has me going through the the Blaster Gun Course. I got the Bronze record.
