Japan Chooses UK as Partner in 6th Generation Stealth Fighter Jets Development!
29Japan has decided that it will develop engines for the F-X fighter with help from the UK.
Rolls-Royce will partner with Japan's IHI Corporation (formerly Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries) and the two will also offer the engines for the export market.
Unnamed Japanese officials told news outlets that Japanese Prime Minister Suga had spoken to British Prime Minister Johnson during last month's G7 summit about the issue.
In late June, officials from the Japanese Ministry of Defense traveled to the UK to discuss the matter. Rolls Royce UK is currently also involved in the Tempest programme.
