Sri Lankan Air Force's Partners With Israel To Upgrade Old Kfir Fighter Jets!
The aerospace company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will return to work on the Sri Lankan Air Force's Kfir fleet to upgrade the platform's core avionics systems with a $50 million budget announced on 30 June.
Under the deal, five Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) Kfir C2/C7/TC2 aircraft will get the new sensors and systems, with all work done in Sri Lanka.
The deal includes replacing the aircraft's basic avionics with advanced 4+ generation fighter avionics to one day be able to integrate advanced radars, sensors, communication systems and new helmets, the IAI said. The upgrade process will also include the transfer of knowledge and skills for improvement to Sri Lankan Air Force personnel. The upgrades will be completed in cooperation with the Sri Lankan air force and their local facilities.
