Jasonafex and Kabier Quit the Furry Fandom
72So, not too long ago, Jasonafex made a video with his girlfriend Kabier announcing a sort of farewell to the Furry Fandom and strongly hinting that he and Kabier are quitting the Fandom, then proceeded to go into why they chose to leave the Furry Fandom. This news was largely met by snide comments from the furry community, and a loud chorus of cheers and applause could be heard throughout the fandom. Some expressed disappointment, but this was largely drowned out by people who seemed more or less happy to see them “leave”. Me personally, I don’t think they’re really leaving, but, who knows…?
Jasonafex is someone I have mixed feelings about. Being the creator of Amorous that has arguably been the cornerstone of this channel, I found the game very enjoyable and the best furry-related game I’ve ever played to date. His work, in spite of criticisms of his jiggle-bone style of animation work, is fairly enjoyable to look upon and view, which even his staunchest detractors will concede is of fair quality.
However, his personality or online persona is very abrasive and has created a great deal of drama for various people throughout the furry fandom. Being something of a contrarian, conservative leaning, and antagonistic sort, I’m not sure how valid some of the issues people have had with him per se, but I can certainly see how problematic his presence has been.
Many of the people I associate with dismiss him as an egotistical jerkwaffle, and someone they don’t care to associate with. Me? I thought he was a pretty cool guy in the short time I’d had the opportunity to see him back at MFF 2017, but yeah. A cursory view of his online behavior showcases the worst aspects of his mode of character, which a lot of people have voiced displeasure about.
My sincerest apologies for the quality of this video. I actually recorded two versions, split between about a week, and this was the more recent and improved version. I got a little tongue tied at the beginning of the video, pronouncing most as lost, and other words weren’t pronounced correctly. It’s been a long week and I’ve been trying to remain more or less improvisational and spontaneous in how I record these sorts of videos, as I often do.
Music is a little more diversified rather than rely on Lakey Inspired for my needs. Also, while I was aware of not only this episode and his announcement of “Quitting the Fandom”, I was unable at the time to immediately record at the time, and had to wait about a week before getting started. Will try to be a little quicker in reporting on various furry-related news as it happens rather than waiting, but yeah.
Admittedly, like with the Sonic Fox drama, I may revisit topics as they come back to mind from recent or distant memory. They’re good examples of the social interactions taking place in the fandom and the problems that occur between people.
