Jay Pharoah | 2 Minutes of Fame | Talks at Google
After a successful five-year run on Saturday Night Live wherein he was regarded as the breakout player of his Freshman year, Jay Pharoah has cemented his leading man status and will next star in Lionsgate’s 2 Minutes of Fame. Heading a cast featuring Katt Williams, Keke Palmer and Jay’s own million impressions, 2 Minutes of Fame follows Jay’s “Deandre McDonald” as he chases his stand-up comedy dreams to Los Angeles after going viral. 2 Minutes of Fame was released on PVOD on Tuesday, June 16th.
Following his departure from Studio 8H where he was best known for a slew of spot on impressions ranging from Barack Obama to Kanye West to Denzel Washington, Jay made the seamless transition to premium cable with Showtime’s White Famous. White Famous was produced by and based on the experiences of Jamie Foxx and followed the fictitious “Floyd Mooney” as he carefully navigated his comedy career in an attempt to be a crossover star (or “white famous”).
In the last decade, Jay’s career has covered all facets of entertainment. He most recently co-starred with Claire Foy and Joshua Leonard in Steven Soderberg’s “Unsane” as well as leant his vocal talents to Universals “Sing” with Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson. He has also appeared in Chris Rock’s “Top Five,” Universal’s “Ride Along” and Fox Searchlight’s “Lola Versus”. He recently wrapped production on Universal’s “All My Life” and will next be see in Justin Simien’s Sundance hit “Bad Hair,” which netted $8 million out of the festival from Hulu. His debut one-hour stand-up special premiered on Showtime in 2015, taking material from his regular headlining comedy performances around the country.
