Jeopardy star Amy Schneider reveals gutting moment that led to her defeat in Invitational Tournament
AMY Schneider has called out a Jeopardy! question after she lost the Invitational Tournament.
She revealed to her fans on social media where she went wrong in the Daily Double and that she was gutted about it.
During the final game of JIT, Amy, 44, found the Daily Double in Double Jeopardy.
However, she lost and had pulled a true Daily Double, meaning she bet it all.
Giving the wrong answer, Amy's total dropped down to $0.
She could have won the tournament if she hadn't bet all of her money because her and Victoria Groce were neck and neck.
Now, Amy has opened up about that experience on X, formerly Twitter.
"And that gave me the DD!" the Jeopardy! champion wrote.
"Which... I missed. It was an awful miss, too. Some of Falstaff's scenes in Henry IV were in fact, set in Southwark, but Windsor was the obvious choice there. Just gutting..."
Amy and Victoria played against Andrew He.
SHE'S LE-JIT!
Because of Amy's crucial mistake, Victoria went on to win the Invitational Tournament.
She took home a $100,000 cash prize and a spot in May's Masters Tournament.
Victoria won one game in 2005, which was far les than her opponents.
The Chase contestant entered the last round with $11,400, while Andrew had $10,000, and Amy trailed with $7,200.
The clue that won it all for her was under the category "BODIES OF WATER.
It read, "The smallest inland sea in the world, it’s completely within the territory of a single country & connects 2 other larger seas."
Everyone answered with "Sea of Marmora," which was correct.
Victoria wagered $8,601 to win the game and the tournament with a total of $20,001.
She said "Oh my God!" as she covered her face and the audience cheered for her.
The JIT winner hugged her opponents and they came together for a group hug, leading Andrew - who didn't get one win - to hoist Victoria's arm up in a kodak moment.
Amy took home $50,000 for second place, while Andrew collected $25,000 for third place.
HOLY JIT
Despite losing the final game, Amy was initially leading with one win under her belt.
27 games between Jeopardy! greats had been played and it came down to Amy, Victoria, and Andrew in the final round.
Amy is a 40-time champion and 2022 Tournament of Champions winner.
Victoria was leading up until the very end.
Amy picked up the last clue for $400 and answered correctly, bringing her to the lead.
Going into a Final Jeopardy!, Victoria held a commanding lead with $29,600.
Amy was in second with $15,000, and Andrew trailed behind with $9,600.
The clue under "U.S. GOVERNMENT" was, "The formation of the Brownell Committee out of concern over U.S. communications intelligence led to the 1952 creation of this body."
