♫Jeremy Ng - Random Sketch No.10♫
Didn't think I would make yet another video this soon! Was improvising around as usual when I discovered some cool sounds again. This has happened to me many times, and I would always tell myself that I needed to make something out of it. I haven't done a Random Sketch for a long time, so I decided this time that I was not going to let it slip away again.
-----
This is in E minor and moves back and forth between chords E minor and C major a lot. There are some B minor chords as well, but the point of interest would be the C# half diminished chord. As always, I almost never play simple triad chords in my Random Sketches. You can't sound sexy if you don't touch the 11ths and 13ths! Heh. I used to be so afraid of chord extensions. Then I soon got comfortable with 7ths and 9ths. And now I think I can do anything I want.
1. The starting chord already has an interesting note. It's an E minor 7, but it also has an A (the 11th). That's why I love the sound of this chord, it sounds so profound, lol. So I made it a point to make use of it, and I decided to open the work with that very chord.
2. The next thing which is the highlight of the piece, is the D major descending arpeggio run (with G as a passing note) over an E bass. I think this sounds freaking cool, so I decided I was going to repeat this several times. In a way, I wanted to really showcase how amazing it sounds. I actually picked up that descending arpeggio pattern from Kyle Landry's Dragon Slayer video (https://youtu.be/M1BAwhy1xWU?t=290) . Except that his was G major over a normal G bass. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded really sweet, so I started practising it. Now I have it in my arpeggio runs toolbox, lol. And so, you are seeing it in action right now!
3. I also wanted to make use of a variety of arpeggio patterns that I knew of in my toolbox for ascending up the keyboard after the D major descending arpeggio runs. I wanted to 'show off' a little bit here. :D Especially with the very first one (1:24), I chose to play that at top speed, simply because I knew I could, lol.
4. Last but not least, I made sure I used that sexy half diminished chord (1:50) at least once somewhere. Every time I come across this chord in my other videos, it always gets to me.

I was really going for an introspective feel here. I wonder what kind of emotions it would bring to people. Let me know in the comments section? Btw, I'm also really satisfied with how this has turned out (yes, again)!
