I know I've been missing in action for quite a while, and if you've been following me, then you know this isn't typical. And no, I did not take 3 weeks to nail this Kyle Landry original, haha! Or did I? Read on...
This video was supposed to be due on around 1st December (and was more or less ready by then), but there was an issue with my piano. One of my keys sounds really loudly even when struck softly. You can imagine my agony while practising... And of course, I can't make a high-quality performance video with musical phrases being disrupted by random accents. I got my piano fixed (still under warranty!) only yesterday. Some parts were replaced and now it's good to go. Of course, I haven't been slacking, so expect another video real soon. I've prepared another piece as well.
Anyway. See what my RH is doing from 4:48 onwards? I really had to practise that, and I've been doing so just with that passage since about 2 videos ago. Man, I was really intimidated by that when I chose this Kyle Landry original to learn. It was the only thing I had trouble with. I still remember starting out, unable to move past the first 4 beats... My fingers would get all tangled up and they wouldn't strike the keys together (the A-E-A). Maybe the piano problem was a good thing after all, since it gave me some extra time to really grind at that passage before making a video. Now I can do it with ease real solid, piano or forte! New technique unlocked. :D
So here it is. THE THUNDER. So fiery and epic. Awesome.
Another thing I've been real busy with is my upcoming website!! Should be done real soon. There's going to be a blog section where I'll be writing again. Musings, life, music, and of course, piano. All the good stuff (like SHEETS FOR YOU FINALLY). Would love to see you there, especially in the blog comments section. :)
