Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has admitted his growth as a talent and a person stopped as he struggled for the spotlight in the company.
WWE cuts returned to the roster recently with five names initially believed to have been let go. Fightful reported that Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Veer, Sanga, and former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal were released from their deals.
In the days following that news, Von Wagner was also let go while an emotional Cameron Grimes revealed he had been released from the company.
Now one of those stars has revealed that they’re staying positive and looking at their release as a chance to grow.
Jinder Mahal is Happy For New Opportunities After WWE Release.
"Gratitude for all of life’s experiences, but at the same time positive and optimistic for the future. I’ve learned that good things don’t happen in life with a negative mind frame. So I’m excited for new opportunities, both in and outside of wrestling.
I get a chance to be myself. A chance to show something new. A chance to grow. So overall, this is a positive. For the past two years, I’ve been pretty stagnant and not really growing as a person or performer. So I’m viewing this as a very positive change."

The 37-year-old Mahal (Yuvraj Singh Dhesi) also discussed what's next for him. He said he still has many goals, many dream matches, and many places that he wants to go: "But what's next? What's next for The Maharaja? I've been here before. That time I was a kid, but now I'm a man. I will only present myself in a way that I want to. I will only do things that I want to. I will only go places that I want to. I still have many goals, many dream matches, many places I want to go.
Where do I make an impact? India, Europe, Japan, Canada, Red Hook section of Brooklyn? Stay tuned. You got about 11 more weeks. Maharaja out."
Mahal was previously released by WWE in 2014. He returned to the promotion in 2016 for a second stint that included him having a reign as WWE Champion.
The last match that Mahal had for WWE was the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal that took place on SmackDown before WrestleMania 40. This January, Mahal took part in a segment with The Rock and challenged then-champion Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight title.

Mahal will have to wait for his non-compete clause to expire in July before he works elsewhere, but the Modern-Day Maharaja has already been making plans. Mahal recently trademarked the term 'The Maharaja' for its use on merchandise as well as the name 'Raj Dhesi.' It seems the Dhesi name will be what Mahal competes under going forward. These filings were made under Mahal's real name Yuvraj Dhesi.
