Inherent Vice movie synopsis:
Los Angeles, 1970. Private investigator Larry "Doc" Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix) receives a visit from an ex-girlfriend who's now having an affair with real estate mogul Mickey Wolfmann (Eric Roberts). She wants his help in foiling a plot by Mickey's wife and her lover, to have Mickey admitted to a mental health institution.
Based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon.
