Journey was initially released in March 13, 2012. In the 2nd quarter of 2020, PlayStation offered it as a free download. The game only runs approximately 1.5 hours and is beautifully crafted. It brings together a sense of adventure and relaxation as you “journey” forward without any text or dialogue. The game does a fantastic job teaching you its simple mechanics with subtle prompts. During the game, you will encounter random companions who are also playing the game in real-time. Again, without being able to speak with your companion you still develop a quick relationship given he/she is the only other living thing in the game’s vast environment. Although the game is short, it is satisfying and leaves you to wonder and interpret its meaning and ending. It won several awards when it was first released. Some even called it the “PERFECT GAME”.
