Metroid man? Shadow Complex was initially released in 2009. The remastered version was released in 2015 and is available across multiple consoles. The game has beautiful graphics and is a side-scroller with elements of 3D (i.e. enemies in the foreground and background). It’s very similar to Metroid, but also unique on its own. The main character, Jason, and a girl he just met, Claire, go on a hike. That’s when everything goes wrong. They stumble across a military-ish secret base and Claire gets captured. The journey to save Claire thus begins! Throughout the adventure, you acquire new weapons and new abilities (boosted double jump, super speed, etc.) by obtaining pieces of a “suit”. The levels are very well crafted with secret paths to uncover, places that can only be accessed once you have the right equipment, etc. In the end, will Jason be able to save Claire? Is Claire secretly part of the military-ish operations? Let’s find out!

Note: I’m playing this game with a mouse and keyboard. Platformers are hard with a keyboard! :(
