Jumping Into Rivals 2 Backer Beta (I'm Bad, But I Did Win Some)
Rivals 2 just went into beta so I thought I'd pull it up and give a go. Now, mostly when I play Rivals of Aether I just like to fuck around with the workshop characters these days and have a good time thoughtlessly using moves that feel good to use, so I will admit going into the online (as I did during the stream) can be a struggle when a lot of Rivals diehards, it turns out, are a lot better than me. It's a struggle, but I did win some matches and best of threes alike so... I manage sometimes.
I don't really do mains in Rivals (probably part of the problem) and so during this stream I tried to get in some time with every character including both the new characters Fleet and Loxodont and understand how each has changed and how their new options effect things when I remember they have them. Suffice to say, I had a lot of thoughts about the cast both those present and those that should be added both from the first game or from the Workshop Contest what they did. Lots to think about, lots to get used to, it's very early days for Rivals 2.
I hope Rivals 2 finds broad success as I do think it is designed well enough such that even less sweaty individuals can have a good time with it just stringing together improvised combos and landing hits where you find them. I hope it does find that audience, it's good enough for it.
