June 17th Development Update | Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
288Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020's next update would be towards Sim Update 5, geared towards release on the 27th of July, next month.
In regards to World Update 5, Four World Updates in place so far, and ideally, this can be the approach for the team to address areas of the World. There are many other regions that require attention to detail including other parts of Europe, Russia, Asia, Australia and Africa. While the bingmaps can render data, at times it wouldn’t be as easy to render them depending on the restriction on various countries. Besides, BingMaps should see a lot of improvements coming by the end of this year.
The team of Asobo are in progress towards several areas that include Artificial Intelligence as the primary focus over the last few weeks due to water masking , terrain streaming and photogrammetry based objects.
Bathymetry is in the picture that can be progressed over time depending on the capacity the sim can handle as of now. A manner of measuring the depth of the water in oceans, seas or lakes.
Performance optimization has been a constant reminder to the team. There are various things to be considered and especially under busy airports, the performance ought to be above par in order to have good frame rates and glass cockpit are one of the areas that are being looked into. What the team are trying to do is to move this process on a different thread so as to keep the performance consistent to avoid any frame rate issues in the system.
