Same firmware, but Atmega328p has a 128-byte page than Atmega8's 64-byte page, so it's faster, A lot faster, 11kB to 7kB. Tested on Juno V2 at 1Mpbs. This board can do 2Mpbs, but the bottleneck is not on the UART's transfer speed, but the slowness of the flash memory, about 3.4ms to write to a page.

Note: 11kB/s is far far faster than programming the chip with a USBasp which has a top tested speed of about 2kB/s, no kidding.
