Kafka (E1S1) testing with new Prisoner in Deep Confinement and Firmanent Frontline - Glamoth relics
Disclaimer! : This video was made with very limited testing, and I potentially may have played poorly with the new Kafka set-up. I may be spreading misinformation with what I'm about to say, which is not my intention. Also, when I showed my relics for the initial Kafka set-up, I didn't have a sphere because it was so bad that I fed it to another relic.
Too lazy; didn't read: The new relics did seem to make a difference in Memory of Chaos (MoC). I was able to clear stage 10 a turn faster with my new Kafka set-up
The Kafka build I was trying to go for by PandaFlyh: https://www.hoyolab.com/article/23124900
I noticed that when I used Kafka in MoC, she would only get to attack once per turn, which is pathetic when my Jing Liu can attack five times per turn with the help of Bronya. I've initially built my Kafka with 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat, 2-piece Band of Sizzling Thunder (BST), and 2-piece Space Seating Station (SSS). While at first this doesn't seem bad, it could have been a lot better. I would be able to get 8% more attack if I used 4-piece BST since I always use Kafka's Skill. I usually don't trigger SSS's 2-piece effect because my Kafka had literally no Speed (SPD) substat or SPD boots, thus not getting to the 120 SPD under normal circumstances.
For the initial stat distribution on the initial Kafka set-up, I used ATK/ATK/Lightning/ERR. This was something that I saw recommended on some random gacha clickbait website. I like the idea of using an Energy Regeneration Rate (ERR) chain because it allows me to push out more ultimates. This is my play style in Genshin Impact, where ultimate cycling is how I push consistent damage. But this play style doesn't seem to play too well in Star Rail, since you lose a lot of attacks. Because I'm using an ERR chain, I'm using Attack boots instead of SPD boots. What this means is that my Kafka acts slower, as well as not getting to benefit from the SSS 2-piece bonus. I'm losing quite a bit of damage, but my Kafka's ultimate did notably charge faster. I thought that the Kafka attacking less would be compensated by being able to use my ultimate more. However, wouldn't being able to attack more just charge the ultimate faster anyways?
When the new relic set was announced for version 1.5, I was very happy that there would finally be a relic set made bespoke to damage over time (DoT) characters like Kafka and Sampo. Ignoring defense seems strong in games like these, so I'd assume that I should be farming it and that it would be a massive upgrade on my Kafka and Sampo.
Since I don't think I'm very good at this game, I've been looking at Hoyo Guides on Hoyolab. I look at many Star Rail character guides to get ideas of what relics and sub stats I should be going for. There was a recent guide by PandaFlyh where they gave recommendations and reasons behind the recommendations. I really like their recommendations, since they are taking advantage of the new relic sets. So I set out to build my Kafka that way. I overdid my entire Kafka relic setup to focus on increasing her speed as much as possible to take full advantage of the Firmanent Frontline - Glamoth relic set. Then I tested the new Kafka in MoC.
And at first it didn't feel like a difference. But after I comparing my run with the old setup (literally just my first run in the new MoC) to the new setup, and I basically cleared it a turn faster with the new Kafka setup. My SPD is a lot better, which means my Kafka attacked more (4 ultimates and 7 attacks vs 4 ultimates and 9 attacks). Like I suspected, I was able to get in the same amounts of ultimates in even less turns, which means the extra action is worth it over the extra ERR. I honestly don't know what else to say... my new Kafka setup is better, which makes sense since my previous setup was bad.
All in all, I'm quite happy with the new Kafka build. Imma be honest, I thought the new build performed the same as the old build, and this description was quite different. Shout out to PandaFlyh too, since their Kafka guide was very helpful. I spent LOTS of resources on getting those relics, so I sure hope my Kafka does more damage.
