38Yokai is often translated in English to mean “monster,” though this translation fails to encompass the full meaning of the word. The word yokai was first used in the Meiji Period (1868 -1912) by scholar Inoue Enryo to describe the supernatural phenomena recorded through Japan's history. Here are a few really cool looking Japanese monster trading figures I picked up many years ago.
