Kara Wang (Top Gun: Maverick; Amazon’s Goliath, Freeform’s Good Trouble), stars in Sony Pictures International’s THE CALM BEYOND, a survivalist thriller. This is the feature directorial debut of the late Joshua Wong, the award-winning commercials and shorts director, who tragically lost his battle with cancer in December 2020. The film will be available on VOD on March 29th.
In the film, Kara plays the lead role of ‘Asha,’ one of the few survivors living in Hong Kong after climate change has devastated the city and left it a dark and dangerous place. After a world-destroying typhoon has completely flooded Hong Kong, a young woman lives hidden in silence inside the remains of an apartment building, concealed from anything else that may also have survived the storm. Her stillness, though, is ended when until a small child literally floats into her life, and changes everything.
