Kardazak is a British controlled sector positioned in the northern rural areas of Takistan. The Kardazak area is extremely agricultural with a high percentage of the populations income coming from poppy cultivation. The insurgent activity in this sector has been a main focus of the coalition forces since the first days of the invasion and is mainly patrolled by the Scottish regiments of the British Army.
Four Forward Operating Bases were constructed during the first three months of the deployment. The names of the bases is an obvious indicator of who built them, named after cities and towns in Scotland.
Kardazak town centre and the surrounding hills are used by the insurgent forces to plan and attack British and coalition forces on a regular basis. Suicide bombings, IED and mortar attacks are a daily occurrence and the regiments in charge of this area are forced to patrol aggressively to maintain a hold.
