WE're taking over a dozen tourists into space on a single SSTO Space Plane, named after our fallen friend Bartmund! Check out it!

:::QUESTION:::

The space station is awesome, but the experience of using it in Low Kerbin Orbit with anything other than a very basic little rocket is really sucky. The frame rates for our SSTO docking to it, as you can see, makes even the simplest of missions take multiple hours to complete. Therefore I propose the following solution: Welding.

There is a mod called UbioZur Welding which I've had installed since the beginning of my playthrough, but haven't yet used. If the viewers agree that this is permitted, I'd like to take this station design and WELD parts together. The station would basically function the same as it does now, and look almost the same as it does now (I'd lose the internal docking ports to help with part count more and just have the things attached without them), but would have significant;y less parts.

In order to get it up into space then... I would Hyper Edit it up there, and then 'cheat' myself the money back that it costs to launch it (because I've already paid for it, and the launch vehicles to haul it all up there). No resource changes would take place (anything that's in the tank now would stay, but the volumes wouldn't be increased). I would then transfer all of the Kerbals into that new station that's been edited up, and then de-orbit the current P.I.S.S. The result is that I have the same funds, and the same station, but with a lot less parts, and hopefully a lot less physics calculations to deal with, improving frame rate. All of this would take place once the assembly of the station is COMPLETE and FINAL, so that I pay the correct funds, and also work to assemble it in space completely (fairly) before the HyperEdit.

Leave me your thoughts about that in the comments below. Thanks!
