It's the opinion of many that the traffic lights on the Longman Roundabout where the A9 meets the A82 cause more traffic problems than they cure.

Recent anecdotal reports about the traffic flow improving when the lights fail http://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/News/Inverness-bridge-thrives-on-broken-traffic-lightssays-MSP-20012016.htm seems to back up calls to remove the lights altogether.
