18Kick Master is a Japanese beat 'em up video game and platformer developed by KID and published by Taito Corporation exclusively for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in the United States in January 1992. Subsequently, the game was illegally released in several other countries, in particular in Brazil. In Japan, the homeland of the game's creators, it was never officially released.
The story follows the adventures of Tonolan, a young martial artist who sets out to find an evil sorcerer to avenge his murdered brother and rescue the kidnapped princess. As the game progresses, the hero, killing enemies, gains experience and gains new skills. The gameplay is very similar to games like Power Blade, Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden. The player leads the character through eight locations, including even such rather exotic places as the deck of a ship, and the passage of each location ends with a fight with one or more bosses. With the help of kicks and magic artifacts, the main character defeats opponents on the way.
The game received positive reviews from the gaming press for its well-designed graphics, but did not attract much attention to itself, since it was released after the start of sales of Super NES and Sega Mega Drive - new generation consoles, and the attention of the players was attracted by the possibilities of 16-bit games.
