I'm so blown away on how amazing Killer Instinct 2 is, and I can't believe I've never played it till now. Absolutely everything has been cranked up to it's maximum, Rare really didn't hold back. The combo system the series is known for is much more intuitive by adding a hierarchy of inputs so that your auto-doubles are the same for each character. You're also rewarded for doing different finishers each time which increases your combo damage and number of hits. This allows some insane combos that last forever, especially compared to fighting games of this era. Throws are in now and we even have Supers, Super-Linkers, command normals and hidden 5th Enders. A clever priority system has also been added, where each specific strength of a button or special will beat another, allowing a cool paper-rocks-scissors aspect that's clear to understand. The graphics are improved with much more movement in the backround of the stages. The music is still incredible as well with another banger soundtrack that screams the 90's lol. The storyline has the characters continue forward... or I guess back in time but it's really cool seeing everyone change in some way since usually story for fighters are always weird. Some characters were also removed like Cinder, Chief Thunder and Riptor. They were replaced with new characters - Maya, Kim Wu and Tusk. I've barely scratched the surface on how many intricate mechanics are in this. It's one of those games you just get lost in the depth, and you can really see the passion for this sequel when the original was already so good. The console port for the Nintendo 64 was really impressive which included training mode and even a tutorial section. This is definitely one of greats, I'm so glad I finally got to experience this.
