Killer7 (PC) - Deadly Speed Run in 2:03:45
27[July 4, 2025] The Normal speed run has been feeling rather bland lately, so I decided to mix things up by doing a Deadly run despite my usual aversion to the category. The usual issues from Deadly popped up (Camellias being too hard to kill, longer bosses, etc.), but overall, this was actually a really fun run. Despite (or perhaps even because of) all of the improvising I had to do, I essentially got what I wanted: something mentally challenging and fresh.
Most of the time gain came from skipping the Kess cutscenes, but my general gameplay was strong. In terms of the version/language, I ran the game in Japanese. Unlike JP Normal, JP Deadly is almost identical to North American/European Deadly, with one major exception: you can hold up to seventy-seven vials of thin blood instead of just ten. It doesn't make too much of a difference most of the time, but it was definitely helpful in a few key spots (like Ayame 2). For that reason, it's better to run Deadly in Japanese (as we don't split the category here based on language).
As is my usual custom when it comes to Deadly, I don't plan on pushing the category more past a singular run, but I'm honestly more pleased with the end result here than I expected. I'm more interested in running Killer8, so expect some of that in the near future, but I'm glad this run turned out so well. Sometimes, you just need something a little different!
