KillSwitch case for Steam Deck unboxing and review, I think this is it!!
In this video, I unbox the Steam Deck case from @dbrand , known as Project KillSwitch. I discovered this brand while searching for a suitable case for my Steam Deck, and I saw many YouTubers, such as @techbymidas , recommend it, so I decided to order it. It took around four days to arrive in the UK through international shipping from Canada.
I ordered the Project KillSwitch Travel kit, which has two versions, the Essential Kit and the Travel Kit. The Travel Kit comes with extra accessories, including Stick Grips and a Travel Cover, which I really wanted to have. When you're on the move, you want to protect your Steam Deck, especially the screen, and sometimes a screen protector isn't enough. This Travel Cover covers the entire device and is very solid, so you don't need to worry about anything.
The box was well-packaged and presented nicely, and I was really excited about this casing. My kit includes the Steam Deck case and Travel Cover. The case has a kickstand that can be easily detached by twisting it, which is a great design.
The kit also comes with stick grips and a skin, which I will probably feature in a different video.
Putting the case on was straightforward. I had been using a silicone case from day one, but I wasn't happy with the quality, as it didn't fit right, but it did the job.
To put the Steam Deck inside the case, you start from the bottom and push each top corner in one by one. The case itself is tight, but its flexible material allows you to put it on without any problems. The grip is better than that of the Steam Deck itself, and all the hard buttons, including the power and volume buttons, as well as the headphone jack and microSD slot, are still accessible.
The kickstand opens very easily and at a comfortable angle. It's very useful to use this kind of kickstand when playing on a desk. The previous version used magnets to hold the kickstand, but there were issues with the device's heating fan, which slowed down the fan speed, so they changed to this type of attachment.
The casing, including the Travel Cover, is very light, so you won't feel any extra weight. I sometimes use third-party Steam Deck stands, and I wanted to see if they would fit with this KillSwitch case. The silicone case didn't fit well, as it was too thick, but this new case fits pretty well. The angle is a bit straight, but it's okay. However, you may need to remove the kickstand when placing it on the stand.
Overall, it's a bit pricey compared to other cases for the Steam Deck, but I've tried several cases, including silicone and hard ones, and I think this case is the best so far. I'm really happy with this purchase, and every time I carry my Steam Deck with this case, it makes me happy.
