This is a playthrough using Omega Rugal and Kusanagi in the Arcade version of The King of Fighters 2002. Read on below for more information...

Omega Rugal is the final boss of the game, and he is a non-selectable character in the Neo-Geo MVS version of it.

Kusanagi is a hidden playable character.

===== HOW TO SELECT OMEGA RUGAL =====

This can only be done on the Neo-Geo AES home version of the game. On the character select screen, Omega Rugal is located at the black box (where the countdown timer is usually displayed), he is at the 3rd spot of the box.

===== HOW TO SELECT KUSANAGI =====

On the character select screen, highlight Kyo and input the following:

Up, Down, Right, Left, Down, Up, Left, Right

If you've done it correctly, the cursor will be back on Kyo, but instead Kusanagi will be highlighted.

===== ABOUT 2002 OMEGA RUGAL =====

As this is the second dream match KOF game, it's fitting that Omega Rugal makes another appearance as the final boss to torment players with. Gameplay-wise this is the best and most powerful version of him, but personally I like the KOF98 Omega Rugal better (and I also much prefer his '98 boss music theme, the one that goes "make some noise" at the beginning).

2002 Rugal has also unfortunately omitted his previous incarnation's Gravity Smash special move, which I always thought was a signature and defining move of Omega Rugal. (the Gravity Smash projectile graphic is within 2002 Rugal's fully-charged Kaiser Wave and HSDM, but it does not work in the same way as in '98)

===== ABOUT KUSANAGI =====

He is basically KOF's "Evil Ryu", and provides the opportunity to have an alternative version of Kyo, both aesthetically and gameplay, in the games that he is in. This concept for Kyo was already in place in 97 and 98 (regarding gameplay), and was implemented into the actual storyline in 99. In 2002 the concept was fleshed out, resulting in the creation of Kusanagi... although his inclusion into 2002 was a last minute decision by the developers.

===== GAME TRIVIA =====

---- In the Arcade MVS version of of the game, on the character select screen, Omega Rugal's slot is located at the same spot as Angel's.

---- As Omega Rugal is a legitimately playable character in the Home AES version of the game, it means that he has an image portrait on the character select screen.

---- In the home AES version of the game, on the character select screen, when Rugal is highlighted, you cannot see the cursor.

---- The character is not referred to as Omega Rugal in the game, instead only as "Rugal".

---- Kusanagi can also be known as Clone Kyo.

---- Kusanagi is not the Kyo-1 nor Kyo-2 clones seen in KOF99.

---- As Kyo's design is constantly changing, some of the developers wanted the return of his old look. As a result, Kusanagi was added to the cast as a last minute decision.
