For the first part, the only way to hurt King Zing is to shoot his stinger. That can best be done from behind. After shooting his stinger twice he'll start to shoot spikes at you. Dodge them until he is done and then go back to shooting his stinger. In all, you'll have to shoot his stinger 6 times.
After hitting his stinger 6 times, he'll turn into a red Zinger with 4 normal ones flying around him. Because you can't hurt him when he's red, you'll need to take out the 4 yellow ones first. Once they're gone, the red Zinger will turn yellow and can be damaged. Shoot him 3 times to defeat him. If you wait too long on the last part then he'll turn red again and the 4 other Zingers will reappear.
