I'm sure anyone who watched Cyberman do the first recorded playthrough of Level 1 remembers this fight. I am here to tell you that this fight is not hard... AT ALL! Actually, this fight is an absolute joke if you do it right.

There are MANY problems with this fight at level 1. The obvious being that the Dark Orbs have a **** ton of HP. It takes 45 hits to kill just one, believe me I counted. Secondly, there are fireballs everywhere that get progressively more annoying as the battle goes on. Not only that but after the third orb, enemies start spawning and this becomes pure chaos. Lastly, and probably the biggest factor in this boss's difficulty, your HP to MP ratio. Let me explain...

The strength of your Cure(And all magic in general) is decided by your MP stat. Future games added a separate Magic that fix this but in this first, it was your MP that decided it. Now every spell in the game used a basic equation to decided the overall effectiveness. Most of them are a simple MP+BasePower equation. Aside from added effects, when a spell gets upgraded to Ra or Ga, its base power goes up. The reason this is important is because of the Ray of Light accessory and damage balance from Zero EXP. The problem is that if you have Ray of Light and no other HP/MP boosts, your HP is 21 and your MP is 4. You DO NOT WANT THIS! 4MP is not enough MP to heal you to max HP if your knocked down to 1 and thanks to the balancing of Zero EXP, every enemy in fight does exactly 1 less damage then your max health. What this means is that when you are hit and brought to 1HP, you actually have to use Cure TWICE because if you cure only once, it will not max you out and the next will be instant death. There is one way to get around this however... The Spellbinder. If you have the spellbinder keyblade, it will push your MP high enough to where it can heal to you max easy, as long as your HP does not pass 21. If you don't have the Spellbinder, this fight can be much, much MUCH more difficult.

Now on to the actual fight. If you couldn't tell, those orbs have WAY TOO MUCH HP for their own good. It takes 45 hits if you get a full 3 hits every time. The amount of hits are not that bad except that enemies start spawning after you kill the third. The best way to handle this fight is simple. Hit each orb until they are near death but don't finish them. Hit each about 40 times and then loop around a second time and quickly finish them off. The first one I simply killed just to count how many hits it takes. The second one I just took care of because it has the most annoying position. Finally, I would have liked to weaken the top most one a little more but Goofy was with me. Believe it or not, your partners can actually kill the orbs rather fast but they die to fast for it to be a reliable strat.

Just follow everything I said and what could potentially be the most difficult fight in all of Level 1 will be easy as cake.

Q: What is this game? Why is it in Japanese?
A: This is Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, an HD Collection for PS3 currently only out in Japan but scheduled for a US and UK release. It includes the Final Mix edition of KH1, the PS2 remake of Chain of Memories and a theater mode containing the entirety of KH358/2 Days remade into an 2 and a half hour series of HD Cutscenes. KH1 also got a few technical updates including moving field actions and limits to triangle and moving the camera to the right stick much like KH2. They also added a free cutscene skip option and a completely remixed soundtrack.

Q: How are you staying at Level 1 and why?
A: The PS3 remaster included in HD 1.5 ReMIX added a new ability that was not in the PS2 version, not even Final Mix. Zero EXP, an ability that makes you never gain experience allowing you to never level up. This changes the game completely. While not as hard as other Level 1s, it forces you to use new tactics since you cannot learn any abilities outside of story ones like Dodge Roll and Sonic Blade.

Q: Why are some enemies so weak and how do you beat them so fast?
A: Zero EXP is a bit funky in KH1. While it does keep you from leveling, it seems to downgrade enemies to your level as well. As long as that ability is active, all enemies that would kill you in one hit do exactly 1 damage less then your max HP. Its basically a Second Chance that only works at full HP. Sora's damage output is also heavily buffed allowing him to beat bosses even faster then he would normally, otherwise bosses would take up to 30 minutes. However note that this buff only applies to bosses, normal enemies don't take the buffed damage effectively making regular heartless more dangerous then bosses.
