This is a gameplay Sample for Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom. This game is a big departure from the first two games in the series which were similar to Dynasty Warriors. I haven't played too far into this one, but it's a hack 'N Slash RPG hybrid. I won't be so bold as to compare it to the Souls series, but it has more in common with those games than with the original KOF games.

This game was generally raped in the reviews by a bunch of reviewers who actually didn't take the time to even learn how to play the game. I remember that there used to be a comment on one website's review of this game completely tearing the review apart, because they didn't even mention core elements of the game like they didn't even know about them. LOl. I don't even remember which site it was. However, this game is a lot better than it's reviews say it is.

The only big issue I've seen with it so far is some slowdown issues, however, they don't mar the experience.

"In short spurts, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom can be reasonably amusing, though even the most resolute hack-and-slash enthusiasts will likely grow tired of the nebulous story and monotonous battles before reaching the final boss. Considering the number of character-specific quests and multiple story threads, the campaign is obviously meant to benefit from multiple play-throughs. The problem is that the actual act of playing it isn't very rewarding, so while there are some good ideas at work, these erudite ideas are overshadowed by a good number of design flaws that keep Circle of Doom from delivering any dependable sense of fun."

Excerpt from the IGN review of this game:

"Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is not a terrible game, in fact there is a small sect of dungeon crawling gamers that will find it enjoyable, but the nausea that was induced by slamming the same buttons repeatedly, fighting the same dim-witted enemies was just too much for me to stand. It might have been more acceptable if the storyline made a lick of sense or was engrossing in the slightest bit, but most of the time you'll feel like you're running around without a true purpose other than slaying nimrod after mindless nimrod. For those few that do enjoy it, there's plenty to play thanks to over 40 hours of gameplay and a level cap of 120, but anyone who makes it that far into Circle of Doom deserves a medal for valor."
