King's Field (JP) - Blind Playthrough (Moonlight Extra) | RKirby808
During my livestreams I was a little disappointed that the Moonlight Sword didn't have a projectile like it does in all the other games. While watching another streamer (link in pinned comment) they had accidentally found that it did have a projectile but couldn't replicate it reliably. Trying to look it up online there is just no information on any of the forums or wikis, other than you supposedly require 80 magic and 80 strength (which seems easy enough for most blind playthroughs and which I was slightly above) to use the beam.
So I reloaded my save and tested what I figured might had been the button combo from my experience in FromSoftware's Armored Core games and I was right. For those familiar with Armored Core Human Plus abilities the timing is similar to sword beam projectiles. For those not familiar you will want to press the attack button (triangle) and a moment later (about when the sword is near the middle/end of its swing) you want to press the magic button (square). It does require MP so make sure you have a decent amount before trying (I recommend changing your spell to the basic Light Arrow while practicing). If you end up casting the spell you pressed Square too late, if you only do an attack you pressed Square too early.
TL:DR
- Press Magic a moment after you press Attack.
