KQV walkthrough part 7. We're creeping through the evil wizard's castle. Shhhhh.\n\nCommentary:\n\n0:10 - Use the iron rod to open this grate.\n0:17 - I spent about 40 minutes mapping this next part out. So I did a cut.\n0:33 - This part is irritating...it's a first person view maze. The little arrow at the bottom (not in the PC version) shows what direction you're facing, which is helpful if you are using a map. Try this: Go up once, go right, go straight until you hit a wall, go left, follow the path until you can go straight or left...go left here. Follow the path until Dink. You go off the path, you're on your own.\n1:22 - This is Dink. He likes tamborines. He flips for them, you might say. He also likes hugs, so keep your distance.\n1:44 - A giant hairpin? Hmmm. Now turn around, turn right when there's a choice, follow the path back. When you reack a fork, keep going straight until you can't. Then go right, then your first left. You'll find a door.\n2:50 - Ohhhh, it's a key. Of course. Makes sense.\n3:12 - Check the shelf on the left for some dried peas. Don't eat them.\n4:02 - Hand over the locket and this girl, who at first thought you were one of THEM, will help you later on.\n4:51 - We enter the most irritating part of the game: the "random death" part. From here on in, at random, Manannan (the cat) or a blue alien-looking guard will appear. Plus, Mordack himself might pop in to kill you in a pretty nasty way (in the PC version, he force-chokes you...here, it looks like he whiters your body). Not fun. But we'll need to get caught by the guard at least once.\n4:57 - I'd like to say I was just demonstrating what happens when you get caught by the cat. But I wasn't. I just didn't see him, or even know he spawned here. That's the first time, ever, the cat has caught me.\n5:27 - Quickly leaving the room thwarts the cat, but not the blue monster (unless you leave to Cassima's room). You can play that organ there in the PC version, but it's stupid...Mordack comes down to check the noise out.\n5:40 - I'm trying to trigger the beast.\n5:51 - There he is! I have to let him catch me.\n6:36 - You need the fishhook to do this...you now have a piece of moldy cheese. Don't eat it.\n7:04 - Follow Cassima out of here. If you lose her, you're on your own as you try and work your way out again.\n8:18 - Throw the dried peas at the monster, and he falls and breaks his back. This takes care of him, he won't show up any more. Don't get caught a second time, or else you will be stuck in the dungeon (and Cassima won't come...her block doesn't open from the inside). And don't do this before getting caught once, or you can't get the cheese. This is optional, but you get points for it.\n8:42 - Time for payback on that cat...throw it the fish to distract it, then use the empty bag from the peas you used on the monster (if you see the cat before dealing with the monster, just quickly leave the screen before he sees you). This will make the cat a non-issue. Also optional, but gives you points.\n9:18 - Now -that- is a bitchin' bed.\n9:37 - It's hard to see...particularly with the NES...but these are spells. You can see what they're supposed to be, sort of. The upper-left one is a mongoose, upper-right is a rabbit, lower-left is a raincloud, and lower-right is a tiger.
