Part 3 of the KQV for NES walkthrough, taking us out of the desert and into a scary forest.\n\nCommentary:\n\n0:36 - I save here because it can be tricky to get out of here, it's timed. Pretty much, whenever you see me save, you should as well. \n1:05 - Use the staff on the door, and...oops. Apparently Graham never learned how to handle a staff...any guy knows you need to do it gently. Anyways, just concentrate on the brass bottle and the lone gold coin there, and get out. Any delay or attempt to get anything else results in game over. Drink, and then leave the desert.\n2:28 - Pay the man with the gold coin. You can also pay with a gold needle (if you have it), but you do not get points.\n2:54 - Ooo, plot! This ties back to King's Quest III, by the way.\n3:47 - You get an amulet. Use the amulet on yourself.\n4:19 - "I'm not going in there! Can't you read the sign?" Heh.\n4:35 - If you don't wear the amulet, you get turned into a frog. I love the banter between the witch and Graham ("I didn't know this was a PRIVATE forest"), not to mention the comment when you look at her. Oh, and I don't show it, but you can't go back the way you came.\n5:46 - She blocks the path to her house, so you need to get rid of her. In case you were wondering what that bottle was...now you know.\n6:16 - Wha? Um...I decided to show off an irritating feature of this game: walking off cliffs to your death. Yeah. Anyways, I cut here to get back from my last save (6 minutes ago) and we pick things up after the fade-in\n6:25 - Witch's house is full of goodies. They're not all easy to find. Check the lamp for a key. Look in the trunk for a spinning wheel. Search the drawer for three emeralds. Those gems, by the way, need to be found in the pouch in the PC version (where you can use items in your inventory without selecting them to use on something else). Also in the PC version, you may run into copy protection at the front door.\n7:27 - Use the key on the tree trunk, and...come on...does that LOOK like a gold heart? Take it. \n8:14 - Now things get tricky. Use the honeycomb to create a puddle of honey, it turns to beeswax. Now use the emeralds, one at a time, on the eyes in the forest. Apparently elves are too greedy for their own good. Really, who falls for that?
