Technically I first cleared this just before this run completely on accident, thought I was doing shak 8 before I did my 9 attempt but apparently had 9 still selected from last time I was recording, oops!
Given that I'm 2/2 on this setup so far it looks relatively stable, so seems I'm good to start farming small shak 9.
I will need to reconfigure some perks and such once I clear big shak and my cain bonuses change though, since without that mana reduction cain ability I need to get that from my units.
It seems like every new account always starts with mana reduction as one of the abilities I'm noticing, which is nice to give starting players a chance before they need very specific units and builds.
