So, we have Adeleine from Kirby dreamland 3, and we have Waddle Dee who, while being a staple enemy in Kirby, probably ended up creating a fan following that brought about the Bandana Dee character... but where's Meta Knight? Well, I have two theories.

The first theory I had is that he's simply laying low after his defeat in Kirby superstar's "Meta Knight Revenge". My second theory (which i didn't realize until playing other kirby games) is that he simply was NOT a part in the Dark Matter story arc which spans form Kirby's Dreamland 2, Kirby Dreamland 3, and finally ending in this game. Maybe both are right. i'm honestly not sure. Either way, i am very glad to see him appear in other future games!
