Immediately after defeating Dark Meta Knight, you will be pulled into the final battle against his master, Dark Mind. The real Meta Knight will provide his sword, labeled as the Master ability, for you to use, affording you a wide variety of moves to fight Dark Mind with.

Initially, Dark Mind operates similarly to Nightmare from Kirby's Adventure and Nightmare in Dream Land. He will teleport around and attack using mirrors circling his body, and launch stars that Kirby must dodge. He is most vulnerable when he opens his cloak, exposing an eye underneath.

Several rounds of similar battles in varying environments will take place, with short platforming areas in between where additional health and lives can be obtained. Eventually, Dark Mind will shed his cloak and armor, revealing his true form as the Mirror World counterpart of Zero. This form is truly fearsome, as it fills up much of the screen with its attacks and can only be meaningfully damaged by striking Dark Mind's eye when it opens.

Once you manage to defeat Dark Mind's true form, it will shrink to a smaller size and initiate a final phase where you must battle it in a top-down shooting format, similar to the bonus game played at goal areas. Defeating this final phase will start the credit roll, during which you can shoot Dark Mind as many times as you can to get a high score.
