Any time a game is remastered or remade, I’m immediately interested. Especially if it’s a game I haven’t played before.

A re-release means that it’s a beloved game, and now I get to see for myself what makes this game so great.

That was my mentality going into Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe, and the fact that the game features a co-op mode, and I was going to be able to share the experience with my wife made me even more excited.

There’s just something undeniably fun about working together to make it to the end of each level while avoiding traps, taking down enemies and defeating bosses.

Player 1 is always Kirby, but additional players can be Meta Knight, Dedede, or Waddle Dee, who all have unique but unchangeable movesets.

But the game also allows for more than one player to be Kirby, which means everyone can enjoy the full experience of using Kirby’s ability to inhale enemies and copy their powers.

And the game’s a blast. It's a relaxed mix of low-stakes combat, platforming and puzzle-solving.

The difficulty spikes a little at the end, but otherwise Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe is as casual as it gets.

It’s easy, but it’s also super charming, and I understand why it’s so beloved by fans.
