This is probably the most important VR game that PlayStation has ever published. First impressions are everything - and Horizon Call of the Mountain is THE game that PlayStation has chosen to showcase the new PlayStation VR2.

So, does this game do its job of convincing gamers that the PSVR2 is a worthwhile purchase?

The game looks impressive, but, more importantly, it feels like a real, full-length game and not just a short experience where you’re along for the ride.

There are actual “video game” things to do - like crafting weapons and ammo, upgrading armor, and exploring.

Climbing is a BIG part of the game, and it’s fun, but it’s pretty brainless, as only a few climbing sequences require any thought to complete.

For me, the best aspect of the game is actually the combat.

I think that, because of the eye tracking, aiming with the bow ends up feeling very precise.

The size and power of the machines you fight is really awe-inspiring, and taking one down by dislodging its armor and targeting its weak spots is extremely satisfying.

At the end of the day, Horizon Call of the Mountain isn’t the best VR game I’ve ever played, but I think it does a decent job of showcasing the new PlayStation VR2.
