With another 1,000 VGMs down, the list has certainly grown larger than I ever anticipated. The channel may not be big enough for me to fill this video with photos sent in from viewers, but I love this community and hope you all will stick with me for another thousand!

For my 1,000th VGM I went with the main theme of The Legend of Zelda series, and my channel has always been very focused on the franchise, so it seemed only natural to continue the tradition with my favorite Zelda track. This probably doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who watched my Top 50 Zelda Themes, but in any case this portion of the list seems best represented by the piece. I've uploaded several different remixes of it since #1,000 and I even had that stint in the "Dark World" channel.

In regards to the music itself, I already spoke in length about it in my Top 50 Zelda Themes, so I'll paraphrase what I said there: "The concept of the Dark World, a parallel land to Hyrule that’s twisted and austere, is ingenious enough on its own, but its theme is really what makes it something special. The world’s atmosphere is very complex - strange, wrong, unwelcoming, but not exactly evil - and a single melody from the SNES managed to convey that perfectly. It’s truly a masterpiece, in any form and in any game."

Anyway, enjoy the collection I've prepared! It might not be as full-featured as the last one, but the theme has seen its share of iterations over the years.

Rather than use images form the specific games, I opted to use my favorite Zelda image, "Zelda 25th Anniversary" from artist AG+, and let it slowly scroll throughout the video. Enjoy!
