Hey! This is my Indie Spotlight! I’ll be talking about various indie games, trying to bring independent studio games some attention that might have been overlooked. After my short review and overview, i’ll be including some of my initial game play.

Klaus is a game where you play as well… you. You play as the operator of this character who woke up with no knowledge of who he is or how he got there. Along the way, the game will unfold itself in a narrative style that is unlike any other game I’ve played. Klaus takes the puzzle platformer and adds a self-aware narrative which combined ensures an amazing adventure.

During your journey, the story will unfold with text within the levels as you move forward. This makes for a seamless experience of story and gameplay. Each level or floor is well done, adding new elements to deal with. The whole time I played Klaus from start to finish, I never felt like it was getting old or repetitive. Each new chapter was fresh.

Most obstacles are fairly easy and don’t require too much precision so I wouldn’t expect a full Super Meat Boy experience here… But there are plenty of lasers, saw blades, crumbling floors and moving blades to provide more than enough danger. My only real gripe with Klaus is the overabundance of checkpoints. I could have done with much less checkpoints so death felt a little more like death, sometimes the game was a little too forgiving.
