Klay Thompson tells us his favorite elements of the Warriors champ rings
WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA -- The day after the Golden State Warriors received their championship rings, shooting guard Klay Thompson told us about his new keepsake.
Although Stephen Curry told reporters that he slept with his ring on, Thompson said the gaudy piece of jewelry was too uncomfortable to sleep with, although he did wear it all night and day while awake.
"I'm going to hold on to that thing for dear life," Thompson said.
His favorite parts of the ring?
"I like the bridge," which is on the face of the ring with each player's uniform number, just like on their jerseys, and although he -- like a few others -- got the geographical reference incorrect.
The bridge on the Warriors' logo is actually that of the Bay Bridge, not the Golden Gate.
But there was more to the ring that Thompson was especially fond of.
"It says 'Just Us'," referring to a saying that Mark Jackson instituted during his tenure. "That's kind of been our saying since I've been here. It says that on the interior of the ring."
In fact, Curry and Thompson are the only remaining players from the beginning of the Jackson era.
