K-Marts have been slowly closing down all over the country since 2014 news reports indicated that Kmart was closing dozens of stores across the United States. Largely because of Walmart, Target, and other online retailers like Amazon the department store has not been able to compete. Since 2000 there are only about 650 Sears-owned stores remaining.
