In this video, "Knowing The Value of Gold," I talk about a recent purchase of a motorcycle. My son wanted to buy a KTM 450 from a friend, so I took along a pocketful of gold to see whether I could swing a deal. The gold coins I took were: 3 gold Krugerrands, 1 quarter gold eagle, 4 1/10 oz gold eagles and 1 1/10 oz maple for a total of 3.75 ounces. It was a fun little experiment, and at the end of the day the young man chose the $6,400 in cash versus the over $7,000 value in gold. Of course, the value I presented to him was spot price value, when in reality the market value was probably another $900.00 or so. Nevertheless, he stuck with the cash and it led to a conversation with this family about stacking and I think they are likely going to start stacking soon.
