KOF 2000 on a NEOGEO #40 - Highest Difficulty! Kind of like VS CPU? :"P

I wanted to see if I could simulate a "VS CPU" mode in The King of Fighters 2000 by cranking the NEOGEO's arcade mode difficulty up to the highest setting--8--and it kind of worked! Now every single match is a killer! ^_^ And instead of sitting through a long single-team "arcade mode" run, with easy difficulty most of the way, the samey story thing at the end and the darn boss, now it's just one or two slam-bang fights (because that's as far as I get ; ) and then on to a new team. ; D

The language is set to Japanese here because I thought I'd just be playing the first match, then resetting the system to play another first match...and the Unibios "cheats" to bypass English region censorship have to be reactivated with each reset, so that would have been a pain. But in practice I found I just wanted to let it rock if I won, rather than resetting it--so next time I'll have it back on English. Early on I even got to I think the third match? ~ 18:00 That's the biggest and earliest whupping I've ever got from Kula, that's for sure--although I was taking that match too lightly, then she started beating me for realsies and it was toooo late to figure it out. : O (And you get so many "Battle Ability" points at this difficulty level that I guess you're pretty much assured of meeting Kula if you get to at least stage 3 or so.)

Then for a while I got into a bit of a state and wasn't winning *any* matches, which became frustrating; gotta stay sharp to get any wins at this level. ; D

(Worth noting too that this "simulating" VS CPU by cranking up the arcade mode difficulty does *not* work in Street Fighter III: the first few matches at least in those games are still at a dumbed-down difficulty no matter what. But I think one of the main reasons I've always been attracted to KOF for single-player is that in general the KOF difficulty curve feels more natural to me.)
