In 1996, SNK (obviously) released KOF 1996 to the world. There were a SHITLOAD of shake ups in this new edition. For example

Takuma was out, sadly. Yuri replaces him. Yuri's empty spot in the Women team is Filled by Kasumi from Art of Fighting 3

Heidern's out, too. He is replaced by Leona. Heidern will not appear until 98 and 2001 and then thats it from him.

Iori has replaced the hospitalized billy an Eiji with two ladies: Vice and Mature, Rugal's secretaries. Yes, Iori has become a pimp.

Speaking of Rugal, he's Deader than Dead.

(The best one of the changes) The Boss Team, consisting of Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser (The Fatal Fury bosses) and Mr Big (The Art of Fighting baddie) make their debut in this game....only to suddenly dissapear after this installment, never to return again...unless you count Geese being in the console version of 2002 and XI, which also had Mr Big back in, as well as the Boss Team's triumphant return in 98 Ultimate Match. There's whispers on the grapevine that Geese will be in 2002 Unlimited Match as well.

A lot of characters who use projectiles had there's rendered useless by making them either short range, physical style-energy empowered attacks, or removed overall, with Kyo's fireball being removed for his now signature flame fist combo. Some get lucky enough to retain theirs

So right now, other than changed effects, most of the character's DMs remain the same, but now they gain an SDM version (SUPER desperation move) variant, with more powerful animations and MASSIVE DAMAGE. I'll be showing the SDMs after their normal counterparts.

For the most part, most remain unchaged, save for a few. Some characters now get TWO DMs. That means more than FOUR supers for some.

Terry: Triple Geyser: He now shoots three Power Geysers, much like in its first incarnation in Fatal Fury 3.

Athena: Shinign Crystal Bits: SDM version has her floating while glowing. You can now dleay the shooting of her crystals.

Kensou: Has two new supers which are variants of his Dragon God Drubbing

Chang: Has six new endings to The Beating He Was Convicted For. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna record ALL of them, this vid's long enough as it is.

Leona: V-Slasher: DiVes to the opponent and slashes them in the shape of a V, obViously. Did oyu like how I capitalized all the Vs?

Kasumi: Super Ecstasy Crunch (For Japanophiles, Chou Kasana Ate): Kasumi does a super version of her energy slash....which she learnt from her daddy, Ryuhaku. Man, I didn't think he'd have such a sexy daughter.

King: Illusion Dance is now easier to do. Not much of a difference but MAN I'm happy! We all know how irritating it was to perform in 94 and 95

Iori: The SDM variant of his Maaiden Masher now has him knocking you to the ground, while Iori sits at his meal, back to you, ripping away happily, until he turns and sees the player. Fourth Wall smashing aside, he then gets the hump and pounds on his opponent.

Mature: Heaven's Press: If it looks familiar, then it is, cos its the fricking exact same as Rugal's God Ptess.

Vice: Legs of Hell: Vice throws the opponent to the ground, while wrapping her legs around htem. HEr tights put Chun-Li's to shame, FACT

Geese: RAISING STORM! 'Nuff Said

(Yes, I'm aware some say "Raging", but "raising" souudns better, plus its written that way in many instruction booklets and in the ingame movelists on most of the console ports. NOW SHUT UP)

Krauser: Kaiser Wave: It was a normal special for Rugal, and here its a DM for Krauser. I guess the maker can't get it right bu thte learner can. Weird, huh?

Mr Big: Blaster Wave: He sticks his sticks in you, leaving you SHOCKED and horrified. Eh? Geddit?

Chizuru: Move Seal: Chizuru hits you once. It may not do much damage, but it renders you unable to do certain moves for a while. Not much a problem, but since she's an SNK boss...

Chizuru 2: Clone Dance: Suimmons a clone that dances on teh opponent.

Goenitz: Mega Maiden Masher: Think of Iori's Maiden Masher, though this time he grabs you, he wrings the blood out of you and lobs you to the ground. He can do this WITHOUT HAVING TO CHARGE UP HIS SUPER BAR. King of Cheap indeed. SDM version has him jumping before the throw, as well as tornado effects during said super

Goenitz 2: Tornado of Dewm: Grabbing you by the hair (Cos its more painful) he summons a tornado that comes form DIRECTLY BELOW the opponent. I think its safe to say that you know what'll happen here.

For a final word, here's this:

This will be the last DM vid I do, since once 97 and the rest come round, it gets ridiculous how many supers there are. The vids would rack up to more than 10 minutes and I make a policy not to do them in multiple parts, so there you go. I hope you enjoyed these (You probably didn't and yeah, can't blame you. Flamers get the big EFF YEW though)

WEll, from me, Goodbye, and Merry Christmas.
