Lake Inawashiro and Mt. Bandai are the most famous scenic spots in Fukushima Prefecture.
Lake Inawashiro is one of the largest lakes in Japan, located in Inawashiro Town, Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture. With a circumference of approximately 50 km and a water surface of approximately 29.3 square km, its scale is truly impressive. Mt. Bandai is reflected in the clear surface of the lake, and the scenery is so beautiful that it is nicknamed ``Tenkyo Lake.''
Mt. Bandai is an active volcano with an altitude of 1819m that straddles Inawashiro Town and Kitashiobara Village, Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture. During the 1888 eruption, part of the mountain collapsed, forming its current unique double-eared peak shape.
There is a well-maintained mountain trail, and you can see Lake Inawashiro and the surrounding mountains from the summit. There is also the Azuma-Yama Ropeway halfway up the mountain, where you can easily enjoy the spectacular view.
