Walkthrough of Lands of Lore, The Throne of Chaos.

Upon entering the top floor of the White Tower you are warned by one of the ghosts haunting the place that there are many souls trapped there for eternity. He advises you to flee and avoid dying there and being trapped with all of the other slain adventurers who now guard the tower.

He is not joking, this is probably the most difficult part of the game. The ghosts can pass through walls, deal a lot of both melee and ranged damage, and while the Emerald swords deal a lot of damage to ghosts you only have two of these swords. The most powerful weapon you have (assuming you did not break the magic gate blocking the path to Yvel) is Vaelen's Cube.
